Job Overview – Trade Accountant
Compensation: $90,000 – $100,000/year + bonus
Location: Greenwich, CT
Schedule: Monday to Friday (In-Office)
Atlantic Group is hiring a Trade Accountant in Greenwich, CT for our client, supporting trade accounting, profit and loss reporting, inventory accounting, and financial reporting activities within a global trading environment. This role will work closely with trading, finance, and operations teams to analyze trading activity, reconcile financial results, and support reporting across the full transaction lifecycle. The ideal candidate will bring accounting experience within commodities, brokerage, hedge fund, or other financial services environments and an interest in working closely with front-office professionals.
Responsibilities as the Trade Accountant:
- Trade Accounting: Reconcile trading activity, profit and loss reporting, and related financial data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Financial Analysis: Analyze gross margin, mark-to-market activity, inventory balances, trade accruals, and other key financial metrics.
- General Ledger Management: Prepare journal entries, perform account reconciliations, and investigate discrepancies impacting financial reporting.
- Financial Reporting: Assist with consolidated financial reporting, regulatory reporting, and external financial statement preparation.
- Audit & Controls: Support external audits, maintain internal controls, and help ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
- Business Partnership: Collaborate with traders, management, and operational teams to evaluate transactions, support reporting needs, and provide financial insights.
Qualifications for the Trade Accountant:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- Experience: 2–4 years of experience in accounting, audit, financial reporting, or trade accounting within commodities, brokerage, hedge fund, or related financial services environments is required.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience supporting trading operations, inventory accounting, mark-to-market reporting, or financial products is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting systems, trading platforms, or financial reporting tools are preferred.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across teams are required.
