Job Overview – Tax Manager (Private Funds):
Compensation: $150,000 – $175,000/year + bonus
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Atlantic Group is hiring a Tax Manager (Private Funds) in New York, NY, with our client. In this hybrid role, you’ll oversee tax compliance, reporting, and planning across private equity, real estate, and hedge fund structures. You will manage co-sourced workflows, lead U.S. and international filings, review partnership allocations, and support fund launches and strategic tax projects. Ideal for Big 4–trained professionals with strong technical expertise and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Responsibilities as the Tax Manager (Private Funds):
- Tax Compliance Oversight: Lead the co-sourced tax compliance process, managing calendars, deliverables, and controls across all fund entities.
- Partnership & Corporate Tax Review: Oversee book-to-tax adjustments, complex partnership allocations, federal/state filings, K-1s, withholding, and composite elections.
- International Tax & Reporting: Review Forms 8865/5471/5472, manage FATCA/CRS reporting, and oversee ECI/FDAP calculations and withholding documentation.
- Quarterly & Transaction Support: Manage quarterly estimates, provisions, and tax calculations for restructurings, distributions, and management fee waivers.
- Cross-Functional & Advisory Work: Collaborate with internal teams and external counsel on planning, entity formation, structure updates, and process improvements.
Qualifications for the Tax Manager (Private Funds):
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- Licensure: Active CPA license required.
- Experience: 5-8 years of tax experience, ideally from Big 4 or a top public accounting firm, supporting private equity, real estate, or hedge fund clients.
- Technical Skills: Strong command of U.S. partnership tax rules, fund structures, international reporting (Forms 8865, 5471, 5472), and tax technology platforms.
- Industry Knowledge: Background in private fund operations, complex allocations, withholding requirements, and multi-state or cross-border tax filings.
- Skills & Attributes: Analytical, detail-oriented professional with strong communication skills and the ability to manage deadlines while improving tax processes and compliance accuracy.
