Job Overview – Tax Manager (General Partner & Credit Funds):
Join our client as a Tax Manager (General Partner & Credit Funds) in New York, NY. This hybrid role is ideal for a seasoned tax professional with expertise in partnership taxation, fund compliance, and strategic tax planning. You’ll manage tax service providers, oversee complex tax allocations, and collaborate with internal teams to optimize tax strategies. This high-impact role offers the opportunity to lead tax processes, ensure compliance, and drive key initiatives in a dynamic investment environment.

Compensation: $140,000 – $185,000/year + bonus
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)

Responsibilities as the Tax Manager:

  • Tax Compliance & Oversight: Manage tax providers, review deliverables, and ensure compliance with U.S. federal and state tax regulations.
  • Fund-Level Tax Analysis: Conduct book-to-tax reconciliations, oversee tax allocations, and identify optimization opportunities.
  • Tax Returns & Reporting: Review partnership tax returns, K-1s, PTET, foreign tax attachments, and withholding forms.
  • General Partner & UK Tax Compliance: Manage UK tax reporting, capital event distributions, s431 elections, and UK tax planning.
  • Process & Compliance Management: Oversee outsourced tax compliance, maintain tax calendars, and resolve tax-related issues.
  • Strategic Tax Planning: Support fund launches, credit transactions, restructuring, and individual tax planning initiatives.

Qualifications for the Tax Manager:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Taxation, or a related field required (CPA or MST preferred).
  • Experience: 5-8+ years of Big 4 tax experience with a strong focus on partnership tax (experience with credit clients preferred).
  • Technical Proficiency: Expertise in partnership taxation, fund-level tax allocations, and tax compliance for investment funds.
  • Skills & Attributes: Highly analytical, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of private equity, credit fund structures, and GP tax planning strategies.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Ability to interact effectively with GP Members, partners, and senior leadership across various teams.
