Job Overview – Tax Director (Remote):
Compensation: $175,000 – $200,000/year
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Remote)
Lead global tax strategy as a Tax Director with our client in a fully remote role. In this position, you will oversee U.S. federal, state, and international tax compliance, manage audits and filings, and drive strategic tax planning. You will also partner with accounting, treasury, and cross-functional teams to improve processes, oversee transfer pricing, and ensure compliance with evolving regulations. This role is ideal for a CPA with public and corporate tax experience and a strong background in sales and use tax and international tax strategy.
Responsibilities as the Tax Director:
- Leadership & Advisory: Serve as the primary point of contact for tax matters and provide strategic guidance to leadership.
- U.S. Tax Compliance: Manage federal, state, and local filings, including sales and use tax registrations, returns, extensions, audits, and reconciliations.
- International Tax: Oversee global compliance, including transfer pricing policies and documentation for third-party accountants.
- Audit Management: Lead, negotiate, and finalize audits with federal, state, and local tax authorities.
- Cross Collaboration: Partner with accounting, treasury, and business operations to evaluate tax implications of new activities and intercompany transactions.
- Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvements to enhance efficiency, strengthen controls, and streamline tax operations.
Qualifications for the Tax Director:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Tax required (Master’s degree preferred).
- Licensure: Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required.
- Experience: 7-12 years of tax experience in public accounting and corporate tax, with expertise in compliance, planning, and accounting.
- Industry Knowledge: International tax and industry experience in consumer products or retail preferred.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with strong research skills for tax planning and compliance analysis.
- Skills & Attributes: Strategic thinker with strong attention to detail, effective communication, adaptability, and proven leadership in fast-paced environments.
