Job Overview – Staff Accountant (Construction):
Compensation: $60,000 – $75,000/year + bonus
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Schedule: Monday to Friday (In-Office)

Our client is hiring a Staff Accountant (Construction) in Philadelphia, PA. This in-office role manages general ledger entries, AIA billing, subcontractor compliance, and project cost reconciliations. You will collaborate with project managers and operations teams in Procore and Acumatica ERP to deliver accurate financial reporting, forecasting, and variance analysis, supporting the success of construction projects.

Responsibilities as the Staff Accountant (Construction):

  • General Accounting: Prepare and post journal entries, reconcile accounts, and assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close.
  • AP/AR & Billing: Manage invoices, payments, collections, and AIA billing, including subcontractor compliance, lien waivers, and prevailing wage documentation.
  • Project Financials: Track job costs, monitor budgets, and prepare WIP schedules to provide accurate reporting for project managers.
  • Systems Management: Act as a power user of Acumatica ERP and Procore, driving workflow improvements, reporting, and integrations.
  • Collaboration & Reporting: Partner with project teams to align financials with operations and prepare reports, forecasts, and variance analyses to support decision-making.

Qualifications for the Staff Accountant (Construction):

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Up to 5 years of accounting experience, with construction accounting, AIA billing, or project accounting strongly preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software, with prior experience in Acumatica ERP and Procore strongly preferred.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with construction industry accounting practices, including WIP reporting, job cost tracking, and prevailing wage documentation.
  • Skills & Attributes: Strong analytical and organizational skills, detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy, and proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
