Job Overview – Staff Accountant
Compensation: $70,000 – $75,000/year
Location: Montgomery County, PA
Schedule: Monday to Friday
Atlantic Group is hiring a Staff Accountant in Montgomery County, PA for our client, supporting general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, month-end close, and financial analysis. This role will manage accounting activities for assigned business units while partnering with operational leaders to investigate discrepancies and maintain accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate brings a strong accounting foundation, Excel skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with both finance and business teams.
Responsibilities as the Staff Accountant:
- General Ledger Accounting: Maintain assigned general ledger accounts and ensure financial activity is recorded accurately and consistently.
- Month-End Close: Prepare journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules as part of the monthly close process.
- Financial Analysis: Review financial activity, investigate variances, and resolve accounting discrepancies with business and operational teams.
- Inventory Accounting: Analyze inventory activity, reconcile physical inventory results, and support related reserve and financial reporting processes.
- Fixed Assets: Maintain fixed asset accounting, reconciliations, and supporting documentation in accordance with capitalization policies.
- Process Improvement: Support improvements to accounting workflows, financial controls, and reporting processes as the organization continues to grow.
Qualifications for the Staff Accountant:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required, with a Finance degree considered for candidates with relevant accounting experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 1+ years of accounting or public accounting experience is required.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, debits and credits, reconciliations, accruals, month-end close, and GAAP is required.
- Technical Skills: Strong Microsoft Excel skills are required, with SAP or Epicor experience preferred.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, organization, and time management skills with the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with business leaders.
