Compensation: $130,000 – $180,000/year + bonus

Join our client as a Senior Technical Accounting Associate (Complex Transactions) in Boston, MA (Hybrid), leading technical policy, accounting research, and support for complex financial transactions. In this high-impact role, you will evaluate and document accounting treatment for private equity, real estate, CLOs, asset-backed securities, and distressed debt under US GAAP, IFRS, and NAIC standards. This is a key opportunity to partner with front office, legal, and audit teams to shape accounting policy across structured and non-routine deals.
Responsibilities as the Senior Technical Accounting Associate:
- Technical Accounting Analysis: Evaluate and document complex transactions (e.g., PE, real estate, CLOs, ABS, distressed debt) under US GAAP, IFRS, and NAIC standards.
- Policy Development & Documentation: Prepare technical memos and executive presentations outlining accounting guidance and conclusions.
- Transaction Structuring Support: Advise front office and legal teams on accounting implications by reviewing contracts and deal terms.
- Entity & Consolidation Assessments: Conduct consolidation assessments for SPVs, joint ventures, and legal entities, including reconsiderations.
- Research & Guidance: Lead research on emerging issues and provide clear accounting interpretations to stakeholders.
- Collaboration: Work with Corporate Finance, auditors, and partners to align on accounting policies and internal controls.
Qualifications for the Senior Technical Accounting Associate:
- Education: Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business required.
- Certification: CPA required.
- Experience: 8+ years in Big 4 public accounting or technical accounting at a financial institution, with expertise in financial instruments and structured transactions.
- Technical Skills: Deep understanding of US GAAP, IFRS, and STAT accounting standards, with demonstrated expertise in securitization, derivatives, consolidation, and loan products.
- Skills & Attributes: Highly analytical with strong research capabilities, exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to engage across teams and influence decision-making.
