Job Overview – Senior Tax Accountant:
Compensation: $90,000 – $115,000/year + bonus
Location: Boston, MA
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Our client is hiring a Senior Tax Accountant in Boston, MA (Hybrid), to manage tax provision, reporting, and compliance for portfolios spanning derivatives, securities, and real estate. Ideal candidates bring experience with ASC 740, partnership tax, and investment tax within financial services. In this role, you’ll collaborate cross-functionally, leverage tools like Alteryx and Excel, and drive automation and process improvements in complex tax environments.
Responsibilities as the Senior Tax Accountant:
- Tax Provision & Reporting: Prepare and review U.S. income tax provisions, projections, and supporting documentation for investment entities.
- Investment Tax Analysis: Develop expertise in tax treatment of fixed income, equity, real estate, derivatives, and other financial products.
- GAAP & Tax Reconciliation: Analyze and explain differences between book and tax accounting across portfolios.
- Collaboration & Support: Work with Tax Counsel and internal teams on audits, special projects, transactions, and return reviews.
- Automation & Insights: Leverage tools like Alteryx and Excel to streamline processes, enhance reporting, and drive efficiency.
Qualifications for the Senior Tax Accountant:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: 4+ years of tax experience in public accounting or financial services, including 1+ year in income tax provision and familiarity with investment tax for derivatives or securities.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with experience using Alteryx, ASC 740, statutory accounting, and financial close processes.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience in investment-related sectors such as insurance, banking, private equity, hedge funds, real estate, or REITs.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, ability to manage deadlines, and passion for continuous learning and leveraging technology.
