Job Overview – Senior Property Accountant (Real Estate)
Compensation: $100,000 – $115,000/year + bonus
Location: Westchester County, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Atlantic Group is hiring a Senior Property Accountant (Real Estate) in Westchester County, NY for our client, supporting GAAP-based property accounting, financial reporting, and cash flow management across a commercial real estate portfolio. In this hybrid role, you will manage monthly close, prepare variance analyses, oversee lender compliance, and leverage Yardi or MRI along with advanced Excel to ensure accurate reporting, CAM reconciliations, and operational oversight.
Responsibilities as the Senior Property Accountant (Real Estate):
- Monthly Close & GAAP Reporting: Prepare monthly financial statements, maintain general ledgers, and deliver detailed variance analyses for assigned properties.
- Cash Flow & Liquidity Management: Develop weekly cash flow forecasts and manage property-level payables to ensure adequate portfolio liquidity.
- Reconciliations & Account Oversight: Perform reconciliations of operating, mortgage, and escrow accounts to maintain financial accuracy and control.
- Lender Compliance & Covenant Monitoring: Ensure compliance with debt covenants and timely submission of required lender reporting.
- CAM & Tenant Billing: Prepare CAM reconciliations and tenant billings and support audit requirements.
Qualifications for the Senior Property Accountant (Real Estate):
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
- Experience: 3-5 years of commercial real estate accounting experience, including property-level financial reporting; public accounting experience preferred.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP, property accounting, CAM reconciliations, lease terms, and real estate tax reporting.
- Technical Skills: Advanced Excel proficiency required, with experience using Yardi, MRI, or similar property management/accounting systems preferred.
- Skills & Attributes: Organized and analytical accounting professional with strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple properties in a deadline-driven environment.
