Job Overview – Senior Property Accountant
Compensation: $115,000 – $130,000/year + bonus
Location: Westchester County, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Atlantic Group is hiring a Senior Property Accountant in Westchester County, NY for our client, supporting property accounting, financial reporting, and commercial real estate operations. This role is responsible for managing the accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of commercial properties while providing leadership, financial analysis, and operational support across the accounting function. The ideal candidate has a strong property accounting background, supervisory experience, and a collaborative approach to problem solving.
Responsibilities as the Senior Property Accountant:
- Property Accounting: Prepare and review monthly financial statements, account reconciliations, and financial reporting for a portfolio of real estate assets.
- Financial Analysis: Monitor financial performance, analyze operating results, prepare budget variance analyses, and support budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and review the work of accounting staff while providing guidance, training, and technical support.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal and external stakeholders to support accounting, reporting, and operational initiatives.
- Audit & Compliance: Coordinate audits, support tax reporting, and ensure compliance with accounting policies and reporting requirements.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, internal controls, and operational efficiency while supporting special projects.
Qualifications for the Senior Property Accountant:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
- Experience: 5–8 years of accounting experience, including at least 4 years of property accounting, is required.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong knowledge of GAAP, property accounting, financial reporting, account reconciliations, budgeting, and commercial real estate accounting is required.
- Technical Skills: Experience with MRI, Yardi Nexus, Microsoft Excel, or similar real estate accounting and reporting systems is required.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong leadership, analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, develop staff, collaborate across departments, and thrive in a fast-paced environment are required.
