Job Overview – Senior Property Accountant
Compensation: $115,000 – $130,000/year + bonus
Location: Bergen County, NJ
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Atlantic Group is hiring a Senior Property Accountant in Bergen County, NJ for our client, supporting property accounting, financial reporting, and accounting operations across a growing commercial real estate portfolio. This role will work closely with accounting leadership and operational teams to support monthly close processes, maintain accurate financial records, and ensure efficient accounting operations across multiple properties. The ideal candidate will bring strong commercial real estate accounting experience, Yardi expertise, and the ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities as the Senior Property Accountant:
- Property Accounting: Support monthly close activities including journal entries, bank reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and property-level reporting.
- Tenant Billing: Manage rent billing, reconciliations, tenant charges, and accounts receivable activities across the portfolio.
- Lease Administration: Maintain lease data, rent escalations, tenant records, and lease-related activity within Yardi.
- Tenant Accounting: Coordinate tenant move-ins, move-outs, security deposit reconciliations, and account adjustments while ensuring compliance with lease terms.
- Treasury Support: Assist with cash management, account monitoring, and treasury-related accounting functions.
- Process Improvement: Support onboarding of new properties, maintain accounting consistency across the portfolio, and assist with operational and reporting enhancements.
Qualifications for the Senior Property Accountant:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is required.
- Experience: 3+ years of commercial real estate or property accounting experience is required.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience with tenant accounting, lease structures, CAM reconciliations, accounts receivable, and commercial property operations is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Strong Yardi Voyager experience is required, along with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting processes.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, communication abilities, analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment are required.
