Job Overview – Senior Operations Associate (Hedge Funds):
Join our client as a Senior Operations Associate in New York, NY. This hybrid role is integral to supporting trading activities and ensuring the accurate processing of trade data. With a focus on credit default swaps (CDS), you’ll leverage your middle office experience from both sell-side and buy-side perspectives to enhance operational efficiency at a leading hedge fund.

Compensation: $120,000 – $185,000/year + bonus
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)

Responsibilities as the Senior Operations Associate:

  • Trade Reconciliation: Reconcile daily trades, investment positions, and cash balances with external banks, prime brokers, counterparties, and custodians.
  • Confirmation Processing: Review and process OTC long-form and electronic confirmations via platforms such as TradeServ, ICE, CME, and MarkitWire.
  • Data Integrity: Maintain updates to the security master, fee/commission schedules, and holiday calendars.
  • Process Improvement: Assist with developing and enhancing operational workflows to improve efficiency.
  • Settlement Resolution: Resolve settlement breaks for cash securities, including equities, bonds, and listed options.
  • PNL Oversight: Run the firm’s end-of-day PNL process, identifying and resolving issues that could impact outcomes.

Qualifications for the Senior Operations Associate:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: 4-8 years of Operations or Middle Office experience from a fund or bank, with exposure to CDS, equity TRS, or OTC derivatives.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with Enfusion/Integrata OMS/PMS required (knowledge of VBA is preferred).
  • Skills: Demonstrates expertise in operational processes, corporate actions (splits, spin-offs), and lifecycle events for OTC derivatives.
  • Attributes: Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with traders and PMs, with a proactive approach to resolving complex operational challenges.
