Job Overview – Senior Fund Accountant (Private Equity):
Compensation: $120,000 – $150,000/year + bonus
Location: Stamford, CT
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Our client is seeking a Senior Fund Accountant (Private Equity) in Stamford, CT (Hybrid) to handle fund accounting, investor reporting, and compliance for private equity funds. You will prepare financial statements, manage capital calls and distributions, track portfolio performance, and work with auditors, tax advisors, and administrators. This role also supports internal reporting, process improvements, and automation, offering strong exposure to private equity accounting, investor communications, and operations.
Responsibilities as the Senior Fund Accountant (Private Equity):
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and review fund-level financial statements, investor reports, and capital account statements on a quarterly and annual basis.
- Capital Activity: Manage capital calls and distributions with accurate calculations and timely investor communication.
- Audit & Tax Support: Coordinate annual audits and tax filings by working closely with external auditors and tax advisors.
- General Ledger & Compliance: Maintain fund general ledgers, ensuring accurate accounting, regulatory compliance, and adherence to fund agreements.
- Portfolio & Internal Reporting: Monitor portfolio company valuations, income, and exits, and prepare management reports and variance analysis for senior leadership.
Qualifications for the Senior Fund Accountant (Private Equity):
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: 3-6 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally combining public accounting (Big 4 or regional firm) with private equity or fund administration.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting/reporting systems, with experience in Investran, eFront, or similar private equity software highly preferred.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of private equity structures, fund agreements, investor reporting, and regulatory requirements.
- Skills & Attributes: Detail-oriented with strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
