Job Overview – Senior Director, Assistant Controller
Compensation: $185,000–$200,000/year + bonus
Location: Harrisburg, PA
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Atlantic Group is hiring a Senior Director, Assistant Controller in Harrisburg, PA for our client, leading accounting operations, financial reporting, month-end close, internal controls, and process improvement within an established organization. This senior leadership role will oversee accounting functions, strengthen financial processes, enhance reporting, and support the continued development of accounting systems and operations. The ideal candidate has extensive accounting and team leadership experience with strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting systems.
Responsibilities as the Senior Director, Assistant Controller:
- Accounting Leadership: Lead and develop the accounting team while establishing clear responsibilities, performance expectations, and effective operating processes.
- Financial Close & Reporting: Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes while ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Technical Accounting: Provide accounting guidance, maintain accounting policies, and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable reporting requirements.
- Accounting Operations: Lead initiatives to improve accounting workflows, reporting processes, data accuracy, and operational efficiency.
- Audit & Controls: Oversee external audit activities, internal controls, compliance requirements, and the identification and resolution of financial risks.
- Systems & Process Improvement: Partner with finance, technology, and business teams to enhance ERP systems, accounting processes, and financial operations.
Qualifications for the Senior Director, Assistant Controller:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- Certification: CPA certification is strongly preferred.
- Experience: 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 5+ years of accounting leadership experience, is required.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience within a complex corporate or regulated environment is preferred, with public accounting experience beneficial.
- Technical Skills: Strong ERP, financial reporting, and accounting systems experience is required.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong accounting leadership, team development, process improvement, analytical, communication, and organizational skills are required.
