Job Overview – Senior Accounting Analyst (Private Equity & Fund Operations):
Join our client in New York, NY, as a Senior Accounting Analyst, playing a critical role in fund operations and financial reporting. This hybrid position is ideal for a finance professional with expertise in private equity, fund accounting, and deal financing. You’ll partner with investment teams to manage financial operations, oversee reporting, and optimize cash reserves for strategic transactions. This role is well-suited for a detail-driven accountant looking to enhance financial processes in a dynamic, high-growth investment environment.
Compensation: $100,000 – $125,000/year + bonus
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Responsibilities as the Senior Accounting Analyst:
- Investment Operations & Deal Funding: Support deal funding activities, track portfolio investments, and manage cash reserves for financing and fund expenses.
- Financial Reporting & Valuations: Assist in reviewing quarterly private company investment valuations prepared by Private Equity, Real Estate, and Merchant Bank teams.
- Quarterly & Annual Accounting Oversight: Review GAAP financial statements and Limited Partner reporting packages, ensuring accuracy in fund administrator-prepared reports.
- Audit & Tax Compliance: Support financial statement audits and tax filings, coordinating with internal teams and external auditors.
- Portfolio & Performance Analysis: Assist in maintaining dashboards, preparing portfolio decks, and providing ad-hoc reporting for strategic decision-making.
- Process Optimization & Special Projects: Identify opportunities for process improvements and support Merchant Bank team initiatives with data analysis and reporting enhancements.
Qualifications for the Senior Accounting Analyst:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- Experience: 3-4+ years of experience in public accounting (with alternative investment clients) or fund accounting.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of GAAP financial reporting, fund structures, and investment accounting; proficiency in Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Skills & Attributes: Detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive, with excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience in private equity, merchant banking, or real estate investment accounting is a plus.
