Job Overview – Senior Accountant (Nonprofit):
Compensation: $90,000 – $110,000/year
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Drive financial operations and compliance as a Senior Accountant (Nonprofit) with our client in Philadelphia, PA (Hybrid). Handle journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close while preparing reports for management, the board, and funders. Oversee grant accounting, governmental reporting, and audits, ensuring compliance with nonprofit standards and regulations. Ideal for those with financial reporting, technical accounting, and budget management experience in mission-driven organizations.
Responsibilities as the Senior Accountant (Nonprofit):
- Month-End Close: Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and closing activities to maintain accurate financial records.
- General Ledger & Compliance: Ensure ledger accuracy, internal control adherence, and alignment with nonprofit accounting standards.
- Government & Grant Reporting: Manage grant accounting and governmental reporting, ensuring timely, accurate submissions.
- Audit & Regulatory Compliance: Support annual audits, coordinate with auditors, and meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
- Financial Reporting & Planning: Deliver financial reports, budgets, and forecasts while driving process and system improvements.
Qualifications for the Senior Accountant (Nonprofit):
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required (CPA preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years in public and/or corporate accounting, including financial reporting, technical accounting, and nonprofit accounting experience.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) with experience using accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or similar).
- Industry Knowledge: Understanding of nonprofit accounting standards, grant accounting, and governmental reporting requirements.
- Skills & Attributes: Highly organized team player with strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
