Job Overview – Senior Accountant / Financial Analyst:
Compensation: $250,000 – $300,000/year + bonus
Location: Mercer County, NJ
Schedule: Monday to Friday (In-Office)
Atlantic Group is hiring a Senior Accountant / Financial Analyst in Mercer County, NJ for our client. In this in-office role, you will support accounting operations, reconcile trading activity, analyze financial data, and streamline processes through automation. You will handle journal entries, monthly close tasks, broker coordination, and assist leadership with high-impact projects. Ideal for experienced finance or accounting professionals with strong analytical skills and capital markets experience.
Responsibilities as the Senior Accountant / Financial Analyst:
- Broker & Account Reconciliation: Reconcile broker accounts, research trade breaks, and resolve settlement discrepancies to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze large financial datasets across trading, securities lending, and broker reporting to identify trends and improve decision-making.
- Process Automation: Enhance and automate accounting and finance workflows using Excel, VBA, SQL, or related tools to increase accuracy and efficiency.
- General Ledger & Close: Prepare journal entries, support monthly close processes, and maintain accurate and timely general ledger reporting.
- Collaboration: Work with brokers, custodians, and senior management to troubleshoot issues, optimize workflows, and support special projects.
Qualifications for the Senior Accountant / Financial Analyst:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required (CPA preferred).
- Experience: 5-10 years of accounting or finance experience, ideally within hedge funds, asset management, banking, or other financial services environments.
- Technical Skills: Advanced Excel proficiency required with familiarity in SQL, VBA, or other automation tools preferred.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting principles, trade lifecycle workflows, and capital markets operations including securities lending or execution reporting.
- Skills & Attributes: Analytical, detail-oriented professional with strong communication skills and a proactive approach to solving complex issues while maintaining a big-picture perspective.
