Job Overview – Senior Accountant (Family Office & Fund Accounting):
Compensation: $125,000 – $150,000/year + bonus
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Our client is hiring a Senior Accountant (Family Office & Fund Accounting) in New York, NY (Hybrid), to lead accounting, reporting, and financial operations for a prominent family office with affiliated private foundation activities. In this role, you will manage cash flow, investment funding, foundation grant reporting, hedge fund performance reporting, NAV calculations, and tax filings. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced accounting professionals with a background in family office, fund accounting, or public advisory.
Responsibilities as the Senior Accountant (Family Office & Fund Accounting):
- Family Office & Foundation Accounting: Manage daily accounting for family office and foundation, including general ledger activity, cash management, and grant coordination.
- Cash Forecasting & Investment Funding: Oversee cash forecasting, liquidity planning, and investment fundings (capital calls) across public and private markets.
- Foundation Compliance: Coordinate foundation grant activity, donor receipts, and annual tax filings (990), and ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
- Fund Accounting & Reporting: Perform daily reconciliations, NAV calculations, performance reporting, and month-end close for hedge fund investments.
- Advisor & Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with legal, tax, and accounting advisors on estate planning, audits, and regulatory reporting.
- Special Projects: Support ad hoc initiatives and reporting requests from the Founder and leadership team.
Qualifications for the Senior Accountant (Family Office & Fund Accounting):
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required (CPA preferred).
- Experience: 4+ years of family office, fund accounting, or public accounting advisory experience, preferably with single-family or multi-family offices.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting/reporting platforms, with familiarity in fund accounting systems preferred.
- Skills & Attributes: Highly professional and discreet, with strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
