Job Overview – Senior Accountant (Construction):
Compensation: $100,000 – $115,000/year
Location: Nassau County, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday (In-Office)
Atlantic Group is hiring a Senior Accountant (Construction) in Nassau County, NY for our client. This in-office role supports full-cycle accounting for construction operations, including job cost accounting, monthly close, financial reporting, and collaboration with project and operations teams. You will manage core accounting functions tied to active construction projects, ensure accurate cost tracking, and support financial visibility across the business in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
Responsibilities as the Senior Accountant (Construction):
- General Ledger & Close: Manage monthly close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Job Cost Accounting: Track and reconcile job costs, budgets, and variances across active construction projects.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports supporting project and company performance.
- Cost & Margin Analysis: Analyze project profitability, labor costs, and overhead to identify trends and variances.
- Project & Operations Support: Partner with project managers and operations teams to support accurate cost coding, billing, and financial updates.
Qualifications for the Senior Accountant (Construction):
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field required.
- Experience: Up to 8 years of accounting experience, with prior experience in construction, electrical contracting, or job cost–driven environments strongly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working with accounting or construction ERP systems.
- Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of job cost accounting, WIP reporting, project-based accounting, and construction financial workflows.
- Skills & Attributes: Detail-oriented, analytical professional with strong communication skills, the ability to manage deadlines, and a collaborative approach to working with project teams.
