Job Overview – Senior Accountant
Compensation: $130,000 – $150,000/year + bonus
Location: New York, NY (Hybrid)
Schedule: Monday to Friday
Atlantic Group is hiring a Senior Accountant in New York, NY for our client, supporting global accounting operations, financial reporting, month-end close activities, and process improvement initiatives within a software company. This highly visible role will partner directly with finance leadership and international accounting teams to oversee accounting operations across multiple entities while helping drive scalable processes within a growing global organization. The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting fundamentals, experience managing close processes, and the ability to operate independently within a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities as the Senior Accountant:
- Close Process Ownership: Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- General Accounting: Support general ledger management, intercompany accounting, fixed assets, payroll accounting, and day-to-day accounting operations across multiple entities.
- Financial Reporting: Assist with consolidated financial reporting, financial statement preparation, and internal management reporting processes.
- Revenue & Compliance Support: Partner with finance teams on deferred revenue accounting, revenue recognition activities, audit support, and compliance requirements.
- Systems & Process Improvement: Support accounting system enhancements, workflow optimization, automation initiatives, and continuous process improvement efforts.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with FP&A, operations, revenue teams, and international accounting partners to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
Qualifications for the Senior Accountant:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required, CPA is preferred.
- Experience: 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience within software, technology, professional services, client services, or other recurring revenue business models is required.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience with month-end close processes, multi-entity accounting, financial reporting, and general accounting operations is required, while exposure to deferred revenue accounting and revenue recognition concepts is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required, and experience with NetSuite, ERP systems, and financial reporting tools is strongly preferred.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong attention to detail, analytical abilities, communication skills, process improvement mindset, organizational skills, and the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment are required.
- Additional Experience: Experience within private equity-backed, high-growth, or multi-entity organizations is required.
