Compensation: $85,000 – $120,000/year + bonus

Atlantic Group is hiring a Retirement Plan Advisor (401k Specialist) in Raleigh, NC, with our client, a leading retirement services firm. You’ll manage institutional plan relationships, oversee governance and fiduciary compliance, and guide investment strategy to improve participant outcomes. This role is ideal for a seasoned financial professional with strong ERISA consulting expertise and a passion for advancing retirement readiness.
Responsibilities as the Retirement Plan Advisor:
- Client Management: Lead relationships with 401(k), 403(b), and other institutional retirement plan clients, ensuring exceptional service and strategic oversight.
- Plan Governance: Conduct fiduciary and compliance reviews, deliver best-practice recommendations, and guide plan committees through governance processes.
- Investment Oversight: Manage quarterly investment reviews, monitor fund performance, and ensure alignment with the Investment Policy Statement (IPS).
- Plan Design & Optimization: Advise plan sponsors on design improvements, cost efficiency, and participation strategies to enhance retirement outcomes.
- Fiduciary Leadership: Serve in a 3(21) or 3(38) fiduciary capacity, maintaining compliance with ERISA and DOL regulations.
- Participant Engagement: Oversee education initiatives, managed account programs, and communication strategies to improve employee retirement readiness.
Qualifications for the Retirement Plan Advisor:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field required (MBA or advanced degree preferred).
- Experience: 6+ years of progressive experience in retirement plan consulting, investment advisory, or institutional client relationship management.
- Licensure & Certification: FINRA Series 7 and 66 (or 63/65) required, with AIF, CFP, or CEBS certifications strongly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint within Microsoft Office Suite, with experience in recordkeeping or investment analytics platforms preferred.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of ERISA, DOL, and IRS regulations governing qualified retirement plans.
- Skills & Attributes: Excellent communicator and relationship builder with strong negotiation, strategic thinking, and business development abilities.
