Job Overview – Private Equity Fund Controller:
Compensation: $150,000 – $250,000/year + bonus
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Atlantic Group is hiring a Private Equity Fund Controller in New York, NY with our client. This hybrid role oversees all fund accounting, financial reporting, investor allocations, capital activity, audits, and portfolio analysis across multiple PE vehicles. You will work closely with senior leadership, manage administrators, oversee cash movements and waterfall models, and enhance processes. Experience with PE fund structures, GAAP, and systems like Investran or eFront is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities as the Private Equity Fund Controller:
- Fund Accounting Leadership: Oversee all fund accounting activities, including allocations, expense management, journal entries, and general ledger oversight.
- Financial Reporting: Manage quarterly and annual financial statements, investor reporting, and internal management packages.
- Capital Activity & Audit Management: Lead capital calls, distributions, and waterfall reviews while coordinating annual audits and ensuring accurate deliverables.
- Administrator & Valuation Oversight: Review NAVs, capital activity, valuations, reconciliations, and support fair value reviews with the investment team.
- Process & Operational Improvements: Enhance reporting, workflows, internal controls, and cross-functional collaboration across Legal, Tax, IR, and Operations.
Qualifications for the Private Equity Fund Controller:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required (CPA strongly preferred).
- Experience: 10-15 years of hands-on private equity fund accounting experience within a PE firm, with strong exposure to fund structures, waterfall models, and capital activity.
- Technical Skills: Advanced Excel proficiency with experience in private equity accounting systems such as Investran, eFront, Allvue, or similar platforms.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, private equity fund structures, fair value measurement (ASC 820), and fund operations.
- Skills & Attributes: Detail-oriented leader with strong analytical and communication skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to manage deadlines while collaborating effectively across teams.
