Job Overview – Payroll Manager
Compensation: $75,000 – $100,000/year + bonus
Location: Queens, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday (In-Office)
Atlantic Group is hiring a Payroll Manager in Queens, NY for our client, supporting payroll operations, employee compensation processing, and compliance activities within a fast-paced commercial services environment. This role will oversee payroll administration for union and non-union employees, maintain payroll records, and partner with internal teams to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing. The ideal candidate brings strong payroll experience, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to manage high-volume payroll operations with accuracy and attention to detail.
Responsibilities as the Payroll Manager:
- Payroll Processing: Manage weekly payroll operations for union and non-union employees while ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
- Compliance Oversight: Ensure payroll practices remain compliant with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and reporting requirements.
- Reporting & Reconciliation: Prepare payroll reports, reconcile payroll data, and support audits and internal reviews as needed.
- Employee Support: Respond to payroll-related inquiries and assist employees with compensation, deductions, and payroll documentation.
- Process Improvement: Support payroll process enhancements, reporting efficiencies, and ongoing operational improvements across the accounting function.
Qualifications for the Payroll Manager:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: 3–10 years of payroll experience with exposure to union payroll environments is required.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience supporting payroll operations within construction, real estate, or related industries is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Advanced Excel skills and experience with payroll systems are required.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, communication abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment are required.
