Job Overview – Operational Risk Manager
Compensation: $115,000–$135,000/year + bonus
Location: Boston, MA
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Atlantic Group is hiring an Operational Risk Manager in Boston, MA for our client. This role supports enterprise risk management, internal controls, audit readiness, and operational compliance within a financial services environment. The Operational Risk Manager will evaluate business processes, strengthen control frameworks, coordinate audit activities, and partner with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate operational risks. The ideal candidate has experience in risk management, internal controls, audit, or financial services and is skilled at managing complex initiatives across multiple stakeholders.
Responsibilities as the Operational Risk Manager:
- Risk & Controls: Evaluate business processes and internal controls, identify potential risks, and support remediation efforts that strengthen the control environment.
- Audit Coordination: Manage audit and compliance activities by coordinating documentation, testing, stakeholder requests, and issue resolution.
- Operational Risk: Monitor operational processes, identify control gaps, and recommend solutions that reduce risk and improve business performance.
- Process Improvement: Develop process documentation and implement workflow enhancements that improve efficiency, transparency, and control effectiveness.
- Stakeholder Management: Partner with internal teams and external service providers to address risk, controls, and operational matters.
- Business Resilience: Support business continuity, risk preparedness, and related operational initiatives.
Qualifications for the Operational Risk Manager:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field is required.
- Certification: CPA, CFA, or a relevant audit or risk certification is preferred.
- Experience: 6+ years of experience in IT audit, risk consulting, internal controls, fund operations, or a related financial services function is required.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience with SOC 1 audits, operational controls, and financial services is required, with alternative investment management or fund operations experience preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with audit, workflow, reporting, or process documentation tools are required.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong project management, communication, organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently manage multiple workstreams and stakeholders.
