Job Overview – Legal Billing Coordinator
Compensation: $80,000 – $90,000/year + bonus
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Atlantic Group is hiring a Legal Billing Coordinator in New York, NY for our client, supporting legal billing, invoicing, and e-billing operations. In this role, you will manage the full billing cycle for assigned attorneys, including draft invoice review, client guideline compliance, invoice submission, and receivables follow-up. The ideal candidate has prior law firm billing experience and proficiency with systems such as Elite, Aderant, or similar legal billing platforms.
Responsibilities as the Legal Billing Coordinator:
- Billing Operations: Manage the full billing cycle from proforma review through final invoice distribution.
- Invoice Preparation & Compliance: Prepare and revise invoices while ensuring alignment with client billing guidelines and requirements.
- E-Billing & Submission: Submit invoices through e-billing platforms and resolve rejections or errors.
- Collections Support: Monitor receivables and coordinate with attorneys and clients to support payment follow-up.
- Reporting & Analysis: Produce billing reports, forecasts, and financial analysis for attorneys and management.
Qualifications for the Legal Billing Coordinator:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: 1-4 years of legal billing experience is required, including direct ownership of full cycle billing in a law firm environment.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with law firm billing practices, partner support, client billing guidelines, and e-billing workflows is required.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Elite or Aderant is required, and experience with 3E, Excel, and e-billing platforms is a plus.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong communication, organization, analytical thinking, and client service skills are needed, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
