Job Overview – Investment Valuation & Reporting Analyst:
Compensation: $110,000 – $140,000/year + bonus
Location: Boston, MA
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)

Our client is hiring an Investment Valuation & Reporting Analyst in Boston, MA (Hybrid). In this high-impact role, you will manage valuation, reporting, and GAAP/tax accounting for diverse investment portfolios, including private equity, real estate, public equity, debt, and SPVs. You will oversee shadow books, analyze legal documents and data, prepare financial statements, and drive process improvements. Ideal candidates bring experience in investment accounting, auditing, or valuation, with strong GAAP/US tax knowledge and advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities as the Investment Valuation & Reporting Analyst:

  • Valuation & Reporting: Oversee valuation and reporting for assigned asset classes, including fund administrator review and shadow accounting.
  • GAAP & Tax Accounting: Ensure accuracy of GAAP and U.S. tax entries, research accounting treatments, and support audits and financial statements.
  • Process Improvement: Collaborate with teams to enhance reporting and accounting processes through automation and optimized templates.
  • Private Investment Valuations: Prepare valuations using internal and external data, working with analysts, partners, and third-party consultants.
  • Portfolio & Expense Management: Manage expense allocations, accruals, and analyze complex investment documents and partnership structures.
  • Regulatory & Client Reporting: Produce management, client, and regulatory reports for diverse investment portfolios.

Qualifications for the Investment Valuation & Reporting Analyst:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Mathematics required.
  • Experience: 2-8 years in investment accounting, audit, valuation, or reporting, preferably with complex portfolios and diverse asset types.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with knowledge of relational databases, Power Query, VBA, or other coding tools preferred.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and tax treatments for a broad range of investment structures (working knowledge of IFRS and Luxembourg GAAP preferred).
  • Skills & Attributes: Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a detail-oriented and strategic mindset, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
