Job Overview – Investment Accountant (Hybrid):
Join our client as an Investment Accountant in Newark, DE, where you’ll play a pivotal role in managing client and corporate funds. In this hybrid position, you’ll oversee critical back-office investment and accounting functions, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and operational efficiency while supporting portfolio managers and senior executives.
Compensation: $80,000 – $85,000/year
Location: New Castle, DE
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Hybrid)
Responsibilities as the Investment Accountant:
- Portfolio Management: Prepare daily cash positions and reports for U.S., Canadian, and U.K. portfolios, supporting portfolio managers and Corporate Treasury.
- Trade Settlements: Facilitate daily trade settlements with custodian banks, resolving discrepancies with brokers and custodians.
- Month-End Close: Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, rollforwards, and expense analysis to support month-end close.
- Accounts Payable: Process invoices, manage weekly checklists, and ensure liquidity for disbursements.
- Reconciliations: Perform monthly custody reconciliations and address any discrepancies promptly.
- Reporting: Assist in preparing weekly dashboards for executives and contribute to annual tax packages.
Qualifications for the Investment Accountant (Hybrid):
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in Big 4/public accounting, fund accounting, or financial services, with a focus on investment operations or portfolio management.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access) and the ability to learn new software quickly.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with investment processes, trade settlements, cash management, and reconciliation practices.
- Skills: Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities, with effective communication and adaptability to manage tasks independently or in a team.
- Compliance Knowledge: Understanding of regulatory and financial compliance requirements.
