Job Overview – GP Accountant (Hybrid):
Compensation: $95,000 – $115,000/year + bonus
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Join our client as a GP Accountant in New York, NY (Hybrid), supporting general partner-level accounting, capital activity, and financial reporting. In this high-impact role, you’ll collaborate with senior finance leaders, maintain accurate partner allocations, oversee cash flow, and support system implementations including GPx and Workday. Ideal for candidates with public accounting experience in alternative investments or partnership tax seeking to grow in a dynamic, cross-functional finance environment.
Responsibilities as the GP Accountant:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare journal entries, trial balances, financial statements, and supporting workpapers using Workday.
- Intercompany & Accruals: Collaborate with Fund and Corporate Accounting to ensure accurate intercompany activity and expense accruals.
- Capital & Partner Allocations: Calculate capital contributions, distributions, carried interest, and maintain partner capital account statements.
- Cash & Liquidity Management: Monitor cash positions, perform reconciliations, and forecast liquidity across GP entities.
- Schedules & Reporting: Prepare detailed Schedules of Investments and Unfunded Commitments, maintain the GP reporting portal, and support ongoing GPx system enhancements.
- Member Support: Assist with onboarding of GP members and communicate with leadership on capital activity, investments, and reporting.
Qualifications for the GP Accountant:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- Certification: CPA strongly preferred.
- Experience: 1-3 years of public accounting experience, ideally with exposure to private equity, alternative investments, or partnership tax.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Workday, Microsoft Excel, and GPx (or similar allocation systems), with experience in preparing financial statements and reconciling capital activity.
- Skills & Attributes: Analytical, detail-oriented, and proactive, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate effectively across teams.
- Industry Knowledge: Understanding of GP-level accounting, private equity structures, and carried interest allocations is preferred.
