Atlantic Group is hiring a Fund Controller (Real Estate) in Boston, MA for our client, supporting fund accounting, financial reporting, capital activity, and investor reporting within an alternative investment environment. This leadership role will oversee accounting for real estate investment funds and related vehicles while managing audits, valuations, controls, and fund operations. The ideal candidate brings extensive fund accounting experience with direct exposure to capital calls, distributions, partnership accounting, and waterfall calculations.

Responsibilities as the Fund Controller (Real Estate):

  • Fund Accounting: Oversee fund and investment vehicle accounting, including NAV calculations, capital accounts, allocations, capital calls, distributions, and management fees.
  • Financial Reporting: Review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements while ensuring accurate accounting across complex fund and investment structures.
  • Capital Activity: Manage fund cash flows, liquidity, banking activity, subscription facilities, and waterfall and incentive allocation calculations.
  • Audit & Tax Coordination: Lead annual fund audits and coordinate supporting workpapers, tax reporting, investor K-1 processes, and related compliance requirements.
  • Investor Reporting: Oversee investor statements, performance reporting, capital activity reporting, and financial responses to investor and internal stakeholder inquiries.
  • Team & Controls: Manage and develop fund accounting professionals while strengthening internal controls, systems, and reporting processes.

Qualifications for the Fund Controller (Real Estate):

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • Certification: CPA certification or active CPA track is required.
  • Experience: 10+ years of progressive fund accounting or investment management accounting experience, including experience leading teams and managing complex fund reporting, is required.
  • Industry Knowledge: Direct fund accounting experience, including partnership accounting, capital activity, allocations, and investor reporting, is required. Experience within private equity, real estate, or alternative investments is preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with fund accounting, financial reporting, and related accounting systems are required.
  • Skills & Attributes: Strong leadership, technical accounting, communication, organization, and analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple funds, stakeholders, and reporting deadlines.
