Job Overview – Fund Accountant (Private Equity & Real Estate):
Compensation: $100,000 – $115,000/year + bonus
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Advance your career as a Fund Accountant with our client in New York, NY, supporting private equity and real estate investment funds. This hybrid role manages fund accounting and reporting, including capital calls, distributions, carried interest, and financial statements, while collaborating with administrators, auditors, and internal teams. You’ll ensure accurate investor reporting, contribute to process improvements, and support technology initiatives. Ideal candidates bring public accounting experience with private equity or real estate clients.
Responsibilities as the Fund Accountant (Private Equity & Real Estate):
- Quarterly Reporting: Deliver timely financial statements, investor reports, and accounting packages while overseeing third-party administrator work.
- Capital Transactions: Manage capital calls, distributions, allocations, and carried interest calculations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Fund Accounting Oversight: Handle day-to-day fund activity including investment tracking, expense accruals, fee management, and liquidity planning.
- Investor Relations: Provide financial data and responses to investor inquiries and internal requests.
- Cross-Team Coordination: Partner with auditors, administrators, and global teams to optimize reporting processes and ensure data integrity.
- Operational Improvements: Champion technology initiatives and process enhancements to strengthen fund accounting and reporting efficiency.
Qualifications for the Fund Accountant (Private Equity & Real Estate):
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics required.
- Experience: 2-4 years of public accounting experience serving private equity, hedge fund, or real estate investment clients.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel with familiarity in fund accounting platforms and financial reporting systems preferred.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of private equity and real estate fund structures, capital activity, and carried interest.
- Skills & Attributes: Analytical and detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, effective communication abilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
