Job Overview – Fund Accountant (Credit):
Compensation: $100,000 – $120,000/year + bonus
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)

Our client is hiring a Fund Accountant (Credit) in New York, NY (Hybrid), to manage fund accounting, NAV reconciliations, SEC filings, and investor reporting for credit-focused investment vehicles. In this role, you will collaborate with third-party administrators, auditors, and internal teams to support monthly and quarterly reporting cycles. This is an excellent opportunity for CPAs with public accounting experience seeking to advance in credit or private fund accounting.

Responsibilities as the Fund Accountant:

  • Fund Accounting & Financial Reporting: Manage daily accounting, maintain the general ledger, perform NAV reconciliation, and prepare quarterly financial statements for credit funds.
  • Portfolio Valuation & Reconciliations: Perform monthly portfolio pricing, conduct investment valuations, complete cash reconciliations, and resolve NAV discrepancies with administrators.
  • Board & SEC Reporting: Prepare BDC board packages, draft SEC filings (including shelf registrations), and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Investor Reporting: Compile and distribute capital calls, distributions, and financial statements, and respond to investor inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Audit & SOX Compliance: Coordinate with auditors for annual audits and quarterly reviews, maintain process control narratives, and support SOX compliance efforts.

Qualifications for the Fund Accountant:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required.
  • Licensure: CPA required.
  • Experience: 2-3 years of public accounting experience, with prior experience in credit fund or private fund accounting strongly preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency is required, with familiarity in fund accounting systems and SEC reporting processes preferred.
  • Skills & Attributes: Strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a dynamic investment environment.
