Atlantic Group is hiring a Financial Controller (Private Equity) for our client in Boston, MA. This in-office position offers a unique opportunity to oversee financial operations, including third-party service provider management, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance. Utilize your expertise in US GAAP and private equity accounting to ensure accuracy, drive efficiency in financial data management, and enhance investor reporting.

Responsibilities as the Financial Controller (Private Equity):

  • Financial Oversight: Supervise third-party service providers and approve financial statements, capital account statements, and investor reports.
  • Performance Analysis: Evaluate key performance metrics, including fund IRRs and total returns, and manage management fee and carried interest calculations.
  • Cash & Capital Management: Monitor cash reserves, approve capital calls and distribution allocations, ensuring accuracy.
  • Investment Accounting: Analyze investment capital activity and journal entries for accurate classification.
  • Expense & Data Management: Oversee incoming expenses, allocations, and data validation between external and internal sources.
  • Audit & Tax Coordination: Coordinate with external auditors and tax professionals for audits, tax provisions, returns, and K-1/1099 distributions.

Qualifications for the Financial Controller (Private Equity):

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required (CPA preferred).
  • Experience: 7-10 years of accounting experience, ideally with a blend of public and private sector exposure (Big 4 experience highly preferred), and a strong focus on private equity.
  • Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of general partnership accounting, financial reporting, and tax reporting, with familiarity in US GAAP, IFRS, and Lux GAAP.
  • Software Skills: Experience with applications such as Chronograph, Canoe, Appian, and Tableau is preferred.
  • Skills & Attributes: Detail-oriented, organized, and deadline-driven, with strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively to achieve results.
