Job Overview – Financial Controller (Family Office):
Step into a leadership role with our client as a Financial Controller in New York, NY. Reporting directly to the Head of the Family Office, you will oversee a team of four and manage financial monitoring, reporting, and compliance for the family’s personal and business affairs. This hybrid position offers the opportunity to work closely with principals and family members, providing strategic insights and operational oversight.

Compensation: $200,000 – $350,000/year + bonus
Location: New York, NY 
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)

Responsibilities as the Financial Controller:

  • Strategic Leadership: Provide operational and strategic input across family office concerns, delivering comprehensive financial and management reporting.
  • Financial Oversight: Oversee the preparation of quarterly net worth statements and consolidated financial statements for family-owned entities and investments.
  • Cash Flow Management: Prepare cash flow analyses and projections to ensure liquidity for family members and trusts.
  • Vendor Management: Supervise the accounts payable function, ensuring efficient vendor management and service oversight.
  • Tax Coordination: Collaborate with the tax manager on tax return preparation and compliance.
  • Project Management: Manage and deliver significant ad-hoc projects, ensuring timely and accurate completion.

Qualifications for the Financial Controller:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or Tax required.
  • Experience: 12-20 years in Accounting or Finance, preferably within financial services (mix of Big 4 public accounting and family office experience is a plus).
  • Skills: Demonstrates financial expertise, problem-solving, and leadership with integrity, adaptability, and a strong interest in finance and operations.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, and Sage Intacct. Skilled in GAAP reporting, consolidations, and financial system migrations, with expertise in real estate and tax processes.
