Job Overview – Financial Controller (Family Office):
Step into the role of Financial Controller (Family Office) with our client in New York, NY (Hybrid). This opportunity is perfect for a finance professional with expertise in managing the personal finances of high-net-worth (HNW) individuals, including family trusts, investment entities, private foundations, and art collections. As a sole contributor, you will oversee financial reporting, cash flow management, estate and tax planning support, and strategic wealth management to ensure long-term financial success.
Compensation: $150,000 – $175,000/year + bonus
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Responsibilities as the Financial Controller (Family Office):
- Financial Oversight: Manage financial reporting, budgets, and investment performance to ensure accurate insights.
- Cash Flow Management: Oversee cash flow planning, bill payments, reimbursements, and capital reserves.
- Investment Coordination: Track investment basis, process capital calls, and ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
- Tax & Estate Planning: Collaborate with tax accountants and legal advisors on tax returns and estate planning.
- Philanthropy & Assets: Manage the family’s private foundation and oversee the valuation, insurance, and preservation of the art collection.
- Advisory Role: Act as a trusted financial advisor, guiding investment decisions, wealth planning, and major purchases.
Qualifications for the Financial Controller (Family Office):
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field (CPA or CFA preferred).
- Experience: 3-12 years in fund accounting, family office, or wealth management, with exposure to HNW clients or investment firms.
- Technical Proficiency: Expertise in financial software, Microsoft Excel, and portfolio management tools.
- Investment & Tax Knowledge: Strong understanding of investment strategies, estate planning, tax laws, and private foundation regulations.
- Client & Relationship Management: Ability to interact with HNW individuals, advisors, and family members with discretion and professionalism.
- Art & Asset Management: Experience in art valuation, preservation, and estate planning is a plus.
- Strategic & Compliance Focus: Hands-on approach to financial management with knowledge of regulatory compliance and hedge fund industry standards.
