Job Overview – Financial Controller:
Take on a leadership role as a Financial Controller with our client in Norristown, PA, overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance. This in-office role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional with expertise in GAAP, internal controls, and financial planning. You will work closely with the CFO, driving financial strategy, ensuring regulatory compliance, and optimizing financial processes to support long-term organizational success.
Compensation: $120,000 – $145,000/year
Location: Norristown, PA
Schedule: Monday to Friday (In-Office)
Responsibilities as the Financial Controller:
- Financial Reporting & Compliance: Prepare financial statements, footnotes, and reports in accordance with GAAP.
- Accounting Oversight: Manage daily accounting functions, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Support multi-year budget development, variance analysis, and strategic planning.
- Payroll & Accounts Payable: Oversee ACH processing, payroll, and accounts payable operations.
- Regulatory & Tax Compliance: Ensure adherence to tax regulations, donor assignments, and scholarship fund compliance.
- Process Optimization & Stakeholder Relations: Leverage technology for efficiency while maintaining key relationships with auditors, banks, and government agencies.
Qualifications for the Financial Controller:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required (Master’s preferred).
- Certification: CPA certification preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years in public audit, accounting, or fiscal management, with nonprofit or higher education experience preferred.
- Technical Skills: Expertise in GAAP, financial analysis, and accounting software, with experience in Salesforce or system enhancement.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience with LLC entities, K-1 tax reporting, and nonprofit finance, with a focus on process improvement and policy development.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong leadership, project management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
