Job Overview – Equity Analyst (Stock Compensation):
Our client is in search of a Equity Analyst to take charge of administering employee equity plans and managing related accounting treatments. This role isn't just about crunching numbers—it's about preparing SEC financial statements, maintaining the equity database, and providing insights for accounting and compensation functions. As the Equity Analyst, you'll be the go-to person for collaboration across teams, ensuring effective execution of accounting and reporting requirements.

Location: New York, NY (Hybrid)
Compensation: $95,000 – $110,000/year + bonus
Schedule: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday

Responsibilities as the Equity Analyst:

  • Equity Accounting: Handle US GAAP accounting related to equity grants, including valuation, modifications, and expense recognition.
  • Financial Reporting: Support SEC financial reporting and accounting/audit activities on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, including preparation of month-end journal entries.
  • Equity Plan Administration: Administer and monitor equity plans, ensuring accurate and timely tax withholding calculations for equity awards.
  • Employee Support: Assist employees with inquiries related to equity compensation.
  • Recordkeeping: Maintain capitalization tables and other share recordkeeping activities.
  • Reporting and Filings: Prepare support for management reporting and regulatory filings.
  • SOX Compliance: Own and execute controls in accordance with the SOX program.

Qualifications for the Equity Analyst:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Accounting or Finance.
  • Experience: 2-3 years in a related accounting, audit, or finance position.
  • Knowledge: Working knowledge of ASC 718, 505, 260, and 230.
  • Certifications: CPA, CPA track, CEP, or CEP track preferred.
  • Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and financial models such as DCF, Black Scholes.
  • Additional Experience: Experience with corporate equity programs handling complex performance-based vesting awards and SEC reporting preferred.
