Job Overview – Credit Analyst (Hybrid):
Join our client’s New York, NY team as a Credit Analyst, assessing and managing credit risks across commodities like oil, natural gas, power, and metals. This hybrid role involves real-time credit decisions, managing assurances, and ensuring compliance with credit procedures.
Compensation: $115,000 – $135,000/year + bonus
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Responsibilities as the Credit Analyst:
- Credit Analysis: Provide timely, real-time credit analysis and decisions, assessing risks associated with commodities trading.
- Stakeholders: Work closely with traders, senior management, treasury, and credit teams to understand credit needs and deliver credit support aligned with business objectives.
- Credit Assurance: Review and obtain necessary credit assurances (letters of credit, guarantees, pre-payments, etc.) for both new and existing trades.
- Monitoring: Analyze exposure reports, update credit systems, and ensure information is current and accurately reflects credit standings.
- Compliance: Maintain adherence to credit procedures, ensuring all necessary approvals and documentation are in place for credit decisions.
Qualifications for the Credit Analyst:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or Accounting required (Master’s degree preferred).
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in Counterparty Credit or Market Risk required (physical commodities or banking preferred).
- Skills: Strong credit risk analysis, financial skills, and expertise in trade finance tools, with excellent negotiation and communication abilities.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced Excel skills, proficient in credit systems, and comfortable with technology and data management.
- Attributes: Strong networking ability, detail-oriented, and capable of managing junior resources if needed.
