Job Overview – Controller:
Our client is on the lookout for a seasoned and top-notch Controller to join their vibrant team in Connecticut. This role is the heartbeat of daily finance and accounting functions for private equity funds. As the Controller, you'll lead the charge, coordinating valuation, investor services, and tax compliance

Location: Greenwich, CT (Hybrid)
Compensation: $200,000 – $250,000/year + bonus
Schedule: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday

Responsibilities as the Controller:

  • Fund Administration: Manage and coordinate with third-party outsourced fund administrators, ensuring timely and accurate transaction information is provided and reviewing their work.
  • Financial Statements: Assist in preparing and reviewing fund, general partner, and co-investor financial statements, including partner capital account statements.
  • Quarterly and Annual Closings: Assist with quarterly and annual closings, including audit requests, IRR calculations, and Carried Interest calculations.
  • Tax Support: Support the tax team with information to prepare tax reporting.
  • Capital Calls and Distributions: Assist with capital calls and distributions for the funds and related entities.
  • Compliance: Ensure accounting and reporting functions are consistent with partnership agreements and side letters.
  • Invoice Processing: Assist in the invoice allocation and approval process.
  • Deal Analysis: Analyze and interpret deal documentation for purchases/sales related to financial reporting.
  • Investor Relations: Assist with responding to investor requests.

Qualifications for the Controller:

  • Experience: Minimum 15 years of experience in audit, fund administration, and/or direct private equity fund experience.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge: Strong knowledge of private equity accounting.
  • Skills: Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics is a plus.
  • Attributes: Diligent, team-oriented, well-organized, strong problem-solving skills, ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines with great attention to detail.
