Compensation: $120,000 – $140,000/year + bonus

Schedule: Monday to Friday (In-Office)

Atlantic Group is hiring a Controller (Real Estate) in Montgomery County, PA for our client, supporting property accounting, financial reporting, treasury, budgeting, and real estate transactions. This role will oversee the accounting function while partnering closely with senior leadership on financial operations and strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate brings extensive real estate accounting experience, strong leadership skills, and the ability to improve processes while taking ownership of a hands-on accounting environment.

Responsibilities as the Controller (Real Estate):

  • Accounting Operations: Oversee full-cycle corporate and property accounting, including general ledger activity, reconciliations, journal entries, accounts payable, and fixed assets.
  • Financial Reporting: Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes while preparing accurate financial statements, management reporting, and supporting analysis.
  • Property Accounting: Manage accounting for real estate assets, including property expenses, reserves, cash activity, and other property-level financial accounts.
  • Financial Planning: Support budgeting, forecasting, cash management, property valuations, and financial analysis for senior leadership.
  • Transaction Support: Provide accounting and financial support for acquisitions, dispositions, refinancing, due diligence, and other real estate transactions.
  • Team & Process Leadership: Manage accounting staff while strengthening internal controls, reporting practices, accounting systems, and operational processes.

Qualifications for the Controller (Real Estate):

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • Experience: 10+ years of progressive real estate accounting experience, including experience supervising or mentoring accounting professionals, is required.
  • Industry Knowledge: Commercial real estate, investment real estate, or property accounting experience is strongly preferred, with asset management, fund accounting, or public accounting experience considered a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Strong Excel, accounting systems, financial reporting, reconciliation, month-end close, and full-cycle accounting skills are required.
  • Skills & Attributes: Strong leadership, communication, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently manage accounting operations and partner effectively with senior leadership.
