Job Overview – Controller (Management Company):
Our client’s finance team in New York, NY, seeks a Controller to oversee management company accounting and financial reporting. This hybrid role suits a detail-oriented professional with private equity experience, responsible for financial processes, complex accounting, and regulatory filings.
Compensation: $165,000 – $200,000/year + bonus
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Responsibilities as the Controller:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare quarterly consolidated financial statements, flash reports, and supporting footnotes, with insights provided to the CFO and executive team.
- Accounting: Oversee month-end close processes, review journal entries, and manage the preparation of audit materials, books, and regulatory filings for domestic and international entities.
- Process Improvement: Research GAAP and IFRS treatments, recommend policy enhancements, and drive process improvements for efficiency.
- Collaboration: Expand internal P&L reporting functions, coordinating with FP&A and other departments to improve tracking and reporting processes.
- Financial Analysis: Build and manage partner capital activity schedules, compile and analyze financial data, and respond to ad-hoc requests and special projects.
- Data Management: Efficiently work within internal systems, including ERP tools and consolidation platforms, to compile data and support automation initiatives.
Qualifications for the Controller:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required (CPA required).
- Experience: 10-12 years in Public Accounting and Asset Management (consolidations and international entities experience preferred).
- Technical Skills: Proficient in ERP systems (Sage Intacct preferred), FloQast, and Concur (knowledge of OneStream and Workiva is a plus).
- Leadership: Experience managing and developing junior team members, with strong organizational and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Attributes: Detail-oriented, quality-focused, proactive, and adaptable, with excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across management levels.
