Role Overview – Controller (Fund Accounting):
Our client, a leading credit-oriented investment manager, is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee the firm's fund accounting operations.

Compensation: $130,000.00 – $175,000.00 + bonus
Location/Office Policy: New York City – hybrid (3 days in office, 2 remote, with potential for 4/1 schedule)

Responsibilities for the Controller include:

Financial Reporting:
•    Prepare and review financial statements for various fund structures
•    Ensure compliance with US GAAP and relevant reporting standards
•    Coordinate annual audit process and liaise with external auditors
•    Assist with the preparation of investor reporting and related materials

Accounting Operations:
•    Oversee fund accounting processes, including NAV calculations
•    Manage chart of accounts, general ledger, and account reconciliations
•    Implement and maintain effective internal controls
•    Collaborate with operations teams on trade settlement and reconciliations

Tax and Regulatory Compliance:
•    Coordinate tax reporting and compliance for domestic and offshore funds
•    Ensure timely filing of tax returns and regulatory disclosures
•    Monitor evolving tax regulations and assess impact on funds
•    Support tax withholding and information reporting processes

Team Leadership:
•    Manage and mentor fund accounting staff
•    Foster a culture of continuous improvement and process optimization
•    Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, compliance, and investment teams
•    Serve as a technical accounting resource for the organization

Qualifications of the Controller include:
•    5 – 10 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in credit/hedge funds
•    CPA certification (required)
•    Deep knowledge of US GAAP, particularly for investment companies
•    Strong technical accounting skills and understanding of fund structures
•    Expertise with general ledger systems and fund administration software
•    Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
•    Excellent communication and leadership skills
•    Highly organized and detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy
•    Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
