Atlantic Group is hiring a Controller (Corporate & Fund Accounting) in New York, NY. In this hybrid role with our client, you will lead corporate and fund accounting, oversee month-end close, prepare consolidated financial statements, and manage audits and tax processes. You will ensure GAAP and ASC 958 compliance while supporting NAV reporting and investor-related activities. Ideal for professionals with audit or fund administration experience looking to lead accounting operations across multiple entities.

Responsibilities as the Controller (Corporate & Fund Accounting):

  • Financial Oversight: Lead full-cycle accounting and reporting, including reconciliations, journal entries, consolidated statements, and preparation of board-ready financial packages.
  • Audit & Compliance: Manage annual audits, support tax filings (including Form 990), and ensure adherence to U.S. GAAP, FASB standards, and internal control requirements.
  • Fund Accounting: Oversee NAV reporting, capital calls, distributions, and investor reporting while ensuring compliance with fund governing documents.
  • AP, Expenses & Cash Management: Review vendor invoices, coordinate payment processing, manage employee expenses, and maintain accurate cash activity and records.
  • Improvement & Budget Support: Enhance internal controls, streamline workflows, support budgets and forecasts, and drive automation and operational efficiency initiatives.

Qualifications for the Controller (Corporate & Fund Accounting):

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required (CPA strongly preferred).
  • Experience: 6+ years in audit or fund accounting, ideally from fund administration or public accounting with exposure to investment funds.
  • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting systems, nonprofit reporting tools, and fund accounting platforms.
  • Industry Knowledge: Understanding of nonprofit accounting standards, ASC 958, philanthropic fund structures, NAV reporting, and audit and tax compliance requirements.
  • Skills & Attributes: Analytical, detail-oriented, strong communicator with solid leadership and problem-solving skills who can manage multiple priorities and work well across teams.
