Job Overview – Controller
Compensation: $200,000 – $250,000/year + bonus
Location: Remote (U.S.)
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Remote)
Atlantic Group is hiring a Controller for our client. This leadership role will oversee the accounting function, financial reporting, month-end close, internal controls, audit coordination, and accounting operations while supporting the continued growth and scalability of the organization. The ideal candidate has a strong public accounting foundation, CPA designation, experience within a SaaS or technology environment, and a proven track record leading accounting operations in a fast-paced, high-growth organization.
Responsibilities as the Controller:
- Financial Reporting: Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process while preparing accurate financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and ensuring timely financial reporting.
- Revenue Recognition: Oversee subscription revenue accounting and ensure compliance with ASC 606, maintaining accurate revenue recognition policies and supporting complex accounting transactions.
- Internal Controls & Compliance: Design, implement, and maintain scalable internal controls, support audit readiness, coordinate annual external audits, and oversee tax and regulatory compliance.
- Accounting Operations: Manage day-to-day accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, billing, reconciliations, and financial reporting while driving process improvements.
- Systems & Automation: Optimize ERP and accounting systems, implement automation initiatives, improve accounting workflows, and leverage technology to increase efficiency and scalability.
- Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership: Lead and develop the accounting team while partnering closely with Finance, Revenue Operations, Legal, People, and executive leadership to support strategic business initiatives and organizational growth.
Qualifications for the Controller:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. CPA designation is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership experience overseeing an accounting function or team, is required.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience with SaaS or technology companies is required. Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, revenue recognition, internal controls, audits, and accounting operations is required.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, ERP systems, financial reporting software, and accounting systems is required. Experience with accounting automation tools is preferred.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong leadership, analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to lead teams, improve accounting processes, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate effectively across departments in a fast-paced environment
