Job Overview:
Join a successful and ambitious quant hedge fund located in Fairfield, CT, as a key member of their finance team. This role is open to individuals with 3-7 years of experience in hedge funds, public accounting, or a mix of both. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, entrepreneurial, and capable of analyzing and handling a high volume of finance and fund accounting tasks

Responsibilities:
In the role of Assistant Controller, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Reviewing reconciliations of trades, positions, and PNL to counterparties, identifying and resolving systemic issues
  • Managing fund accounting tasks, including NAV maintenance, allocation review, expense allocation, regulatory reporting, audit, and tax
  • Coordinating broker management activities, optimizing margin/clearing, onboarding new brokers, and tracking the broker wallet
  • Understanding and improving the firm's trade workflow, designing and automating processes
  • Leading the finance effort to onboard new funds, markets, products, and enhancing processes and controls
  • Assessing portfolio FX exposure and executing hedge trades
  • Assisting in monitoring portfolio and orders intra-day, as directed by the trading team
  • Handling various one-off projects related to finance and accounting from start to finish
  • Collaborating with partners and teams on important analyses and decision-making

Qualifications:
To be considered for the Assistant Controller role, you should have:

  • Attended a high-quality school with a strong academic record.
  • 3-7 years of work experience in public accounting and/or investment management
  • Knowledge of fund accounting, reconciliations, and regulatory reporting
  • Familiarity with trade workflows and experience in process design and automation
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to handle a high volume of tasks and data
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to adapt in a dynamic environment
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • CPA qualification or parts passed is a plus
