Atlantic Group is hiring an Assistant Controller/Senior Associate (Private Equity) for our client in Stamford, CT (Hybrid). In this leadership role, you will manage accounting operations for a private equity firm, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, audits, and compliance. Ideal candidates bring strong US GAAP expertise and experience in private equity, hedge funds, or public/private accounting with a management company focus.

Responsibilities as the Assistant Controller/Senior Associate:

  • Financial Close & Reporting: Lead month-end and year-end close processes, preparing financial statements, supporting schedules, and internal reports.
  • Accounts Management: Manage accounts payable, receivable, intercompany transactions, and expense allocations.
  • Forecasting & Analysis: Drive budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support strategic financial decisions.
  • Audit & Compliance: Prepare audit materials, coordinate with external auditors, and ensure compliance with accounting standards and tax requirements.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement enhancements to accounting processes, systems, and controls.
  • Team Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams and, depending on experience, mentor junior accounting staff.

Qualifications for the Assistant Controller/Senior Associate:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • Experience: 4-8 years in public accounting, private equity, or hedge fund management company accounting, with management company experience preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient with accounting systems such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar platforms, with strong knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Skills & Attributes: Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while collaborating across teams.
