Compensation: $110,000 – $140,000/year + bonus

Atlantic Group is hiring an Assistant Controller (Investment Management) in New York, NY for our client, supporting fund accounting, financial reporting, and investment operations within an alternative investment environment. This role combines core accounting responsibilities with trade operations support, working closely with finance and investment professionals to ensure accurate financial reporting, transaction processing, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have experience within a hedge fund, asset management, or investment firm and be comfortable working in a collaborative, hands-on environment.
Responsibilities as the Assistant Controller (Investment Management):
- Fund Accounting: Reconcile cash, investment positions, and trading activity while ensuring accurate records across custodians, brokers, and third-party service providers.
- Financial Reporting: Review monthly fund accounting packages, monitor financial data, and support the preparation of internal and external financial reports.
- Treasury & Expenses: Process wire transfers, manage expense allocations, and oversee day-to-day management company accounting activities.
- Audit & Compliance: Assist with annual audits, tax reporting, regulatory filings, and internal compliance initiatives while maintaining accurate supporting documentation.
- Trade Operations: Support investment operations by monitoring trade activity, processing corporate actions, coordinating settlement documentation, and working with external counterparties.
- Cross-Functional Support: Partner with finance, operations, and investment teams to improve processes, resolve operational issues, and support the firm’s daily business activities.
Qualifications for the Assistant Controller (Investment Management):
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- Certification: CPA designation or progress toward CPA certification is preferred.
- Experience: 3–5 years of experience in fund accounting, investment accounting, or investment operations within a hedge fund, asset manager, fund administrator, or similar financial services environment is required.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience supporting alternative investments, hedge funds, trading operations, or investment management environments is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience working with fund accounting platforms, portfolio accounting systems, or financial reporting software is preferred.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a collaborative, hands-on approach and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
