Job Overview – Assistant Controller (Hospitality):
Join our client as an Assistant Controller in Tampa, FL, overseeing accounting operations and staff for their Hotels division. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, this role will ensure adherence to GAAP standards while driving financial efficiency and operational excellence. This position is ideal for a motivated professional eager to make a significant impact in the hospitality industry.
Compensation: $100,000 – $120,000/year
Location: Tampa, FL
Schedule: Monday to Friday (In-Office)
Responsibilities as the Assistant Controller:
- Team Leadership: Manage and motivate the Hotels division accounting and finance team, ensuring optimal performance and professional development.
- Account Oversight: Review and approve ledger account reconciliations, including bank statements, assets, liabilities, and credit cards.
- Closing & Reporting: Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including financial statement preparation and reporting.
- Budget Management: Assist in budget preparation and maintain strict spending controls to ensure compliance with budgetary limits.
- Audit Coordination: Collaborate with the Corporate Controller to execute internal audits and facilitate external audits, overseeing accounts payable, general ledger, and payroll audits.
- Depreciation Schedules: Prepare annual depreciation schedules for equipment, building supplies, and alterations.
Qualifications for the Assistant Controller:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- Experience: At least 2-3 years of Accounting experience, preferably in hospitality (vacation rentals or hotels), with multi-entity and intercompany transaction expertise.
- Skills: Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Industry Skills: Expertise in GAAP, finance, budgeting, tax, banking, and cost control principles.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office (experience with Sage Intacct is preferred).
