Job Overview – Assistant Controller (Hedge Fund)
Compensation: $175,000 – $225,000/year + bonus

Atlantic Group is hiring an Assistant Controller (Hedge Fund) in the New York metropolitan area for our client, supporting fund accounting, financial reporting, and operational finance for a rapidly growing alternative investment manager. This highly visible role partners closely with executive leadership and oversees core accounting, valuation, reporting, and control functions across a sophisticated investment platform. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with hedge fund experience and thrives in an entrepreneurial, high-growth environment.
Responsibilities as the Assistant Controller:
- Fund Accounting: Oversee month-end NAV reporting, fund accounting activities, partnership allocations, capital accounts, and management and incentive fee calculations.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and review internal financial reports, client reporting deliverables, regulatory filings, and other accounting analyses supporting business operations.
- Valuation & Reconciliations: Supervise cash and position reconciliations, oversee valuation processes for complex investment products, and review daily and monthly profit and loss reporting.
- Audit & Controls: Coordinate annual audits, strengthen internal controls, maintain accounting policies, and ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements.
- Operations Oversight: Partner with fund administrators, auditors, and internal stakeholders to support investor activity, operational accounting, and ongoing fund operations.
- Process Improvement: Lead accounting process enhancements, operational efficiencies, systems initiatives, and special projects that support the firm’s continued growth.
Qualifications for the Assistant Controller:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- Certification: CPA designation is required.
- Experience: 6–10 years of experience in fund accounting, fund finance, financial reporting, or public accounting with significant hedge fund exposure is required.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience within a hedge fund, investment manager, fund administrator, or public accounting firm serving alternative investment clients is required. Experience supporting complex investment products, including equities, options, swaps, credit derivatives, or similar instruments, is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of hedge fund accounting, financial reporting, and investment operations is required. Experience with Enfusion or similar investment management platforms is preferred. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills with exceptional attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple priorities, collaborate across finance and investment teams, and contribute within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial investment management environment.
