Job Overview – Assistant Controller (Hedge Fund Accounting):
Compensation: $140,000 – $175,000/year + bonus

Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Atlantic Group is hiring an Assistant Controller (Hedge Fund Accounting) in New York, NY for our client. This hybrid role improves accounting processes, validates daily P&L, reviews NAV packages and investor allocations, and supports regulatory filings. You will work with administrators, assist with audits, and contribute to performance reporting. Ideal candidates have strong hedge fund accounting experience and technical skills in Excel, fund accounting systems, and analytics tools like Python or Power BI.
Responsibilities as the Assistant Controller:
- Process & System Optimization: Partner with the Controller and CFO to enhance accounting workflows, strengthen controls, and ensure the team has effective systems and technology.
- P&L, NAV & Allocations: Review daily fund P&L, validate monthly NAV packages, and oversee investor and incentive allocations including hurdle rate methodologies.
- Regulatory & Audit Oversight: Assist with Form 13F, Form PF, and CPO-PQR filings and support the annual fund audit to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Performance & Reporting: Prepare and analyze weekly performance estimates and ensure consistency with internal models and fund data.
- Collaboration: Work with administrators, auditors, and internal teams on accounting, valuation, and marketing-related metrics such as attribution and correlation.
Qualifications for the Assistant Controller:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required (CPA preferred).
- Experience: 5-10 years of hedge fund accounting experience with strong background in NAV reporting, valuation, regulatory filings, and investor allocations.
- Technical Skills: Advanced Excel proficiency, with experience in Python, Power BI, Power Automate, generative AI tools, and familiarity with process documentation platforms such as Confluence.
- Industry Knowledge: Understanding of a broad range of investment products, including fixed income securities, equity derivatives, and asset-backed securities.
- Skills & Attributes: Analytical, detail-oriented professional with strong communication skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a proactive approach to improving workflows.
