Job Overview – Assistant Controller (Fund Accounting):
Take on a pivotal role with our client as an Assistant Controller in Boston, MA. In this hybrid position, you will manage fund accounting and reporting, lead team development, and collaborate with stakeholders to optimize financial operations. This role encompasses fund administration, investor allocations, performance analysis, and compliance, with a focus on advancing technology and processes.

Compensation: $135,000 – $160,000/year + bonus
Location: Boston, MA
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)

Responsibilities as the Assistant Controller (Fund Accounting):

  • Fund Administration: Work with fund administrators and auditors on reconciliations and financial statement preparation.
  • Team Oversight: Supervise Finance Associates on fund expenses, allocations, capital calls, and distributions.
  • Performance Analysis: Assist with fund valuations, performance analysis, and track record reporting.
  • Investor Support: Deliver accurate reports and analysis for Investor Relations and internal teams.
  • Operational Leadership: Support fund launches, fundraising, and cash/liquidity analyses.
  • Compliance & Process Improvements: Ensure compliance with policies and champion workflow and technology enhancements.

Qualifications for the Assistant Controller (Fund Accounting):

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required (CPA license strongly preferred).
  • Experience: 8-12 years of public/private accounting with strong fund partnership and financial reporting expertise (credit and derivatives experience preferred).
  • Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with excellent organizational and time management abilities and a detail-oriented approach.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in investment accounting systems, OMS, performance reporting tools, and advanced Microsoft Excel (experience with data and reporting applications preferred).
  • Attributes: Analytical, adaptable, and professional, with strong problem-solving skills and a team-oriented mindset focused on operational excellence.
