Job Overview – Assistant Controller (Credit & Real Estate Funds):
Compensation: $165,000 – $195,000/year + bonus

Atlantic Group is hiring an Assistant Controller (Credit & Real Estate Funds) in New York, NY for our client. This hybrid role oversees fund accounting, financial reporting, and performance analysis across credit and real estate investments. You’ll manage NAVs, capital activity, waterfalls, and audits while enhancing processes and systems. Ideal for CPAs with strong fund accounting expertise and advanced Excel skills.
Responsibilities as the Assistant Controller:
- Fund Accounting & Reporting: Oversee monthly and quarterly closes, NAV reconciliations, and financial statements in collaboration with fund administrators.
- Performance Analysis: Manage and validate fund performance metrics, including ROR, IRR, MOIC, and DPI.
- Waterfall Calculations: Review and reconcile complex waterfall models across European and American structures.
- Capital Activity: Prepare and review capital call, distribution, and investor reporting packages.
- Audit & Compliance: Lead quarterly and annual audits, supporting regulatory and risk reporting requirements.
Qualifications for the Assistant Controller:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- Licensure: Active CPA required.
- Experience: 8-12 years of progressive public and private accounting experience, focused on closed-end structures within private equity, credit, and real estate funds.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel required, with preferred experience in Investran, eFront, or comparable fund accounting and reporting platforms.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of fund accounting, partnership structures, and complex waterfall modeling, with strong preference for European waterfall experience.
- Skills & Attributes: Highly analytical and detail-oriented professional with excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills, and a process-improvement mindset.
