Job Overview – Accounting Manager:
Step into an exciting role and join our client's team as an Accounting Manager! This hybrid role involves planning and directing the accounting operations of the company, overseeing the Accounting Department, and ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance.
Location: Nassau County, NY (Hybrid)
Compensation: $130,000 – $145,000/year + bonus
Schedule: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday
Responsibilities as the Accounting Manager:
- Team Leadership: Build, lead, motivate, and develop a team of 2-4 direct reports to perform accounting, consolidation, reporting, and analytical work.
- Best Practices: Partner with the CFO to design and implement best practices, increase efficiency, and harmonize the consolidation process for actual, budgeted, and forecasted results.
- Monthly Closing: Perform monthly closing and account reconciliations, including journal entry review, subledger reconciliations, and oversight of the general ledger.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of periodic financial reports, ensuring compliance with GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Cash Flow Management: Manage cash flow and prepare weekly cash forecasts to ensure adequate cash availability for operations.
- Internal Controls: Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures and implement internal and external controls over accounting transactions.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist with the annual budget and quarterly forecasts.
- Audit Liaison: Liaise with external audits to provide necessary documentation, answer inquiries, and ensure quality outcomes.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable: Manage accounts payable to ensure proper coding of invoices and timely payments, and manage accounts receivable, including collections and cash applications.
- Banking Relationships: Maintain all banking relationships and execute ACH and wire payments.
Qualifications for the Accounting Manager:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required (CPA preferred).
- Experience: 6-10 years of experience in Accounting and/or Finance with increasing responsibility.
- Skills: Excellent management and supervisory skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent organizational and time management skills, and high attention to detail.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
